This French iport of a fun, youth-oriented boutique hotel took seven years to turn up on American shores, and they've made an entrance that's worth the wait. It's refreshingly easy on the budget, and it had better be, because it's aimed at an authentically eclectic crowd: not the moneyed elite so much as the creative class, who tend to have more taste than liquid cash. The Roosevelt still looks out over what's probably the most-visited stretch of Hollywood Boulevard, facing Grauman's Chinese Theatre. The lobby is still resplendent in pre-war Spanish Colonial style, and the enormous pool, lined with cabanas, still a classic. Guest rooms, by contrast, are a bit more on the contemporary side.Space is plentiful and amenities are unashamedly high-end.
